05.09 Are You (& ur mom figure) Registered To Vote?
Voter Registration Day, Manhattan DA Forum, “But I’m Not Into Politics,” & Donors Rank Mayoral Candidates
Listen up everyone: Are y’all registered up and ready to vote? We want you, your friends, and your fam to all be ready to vote on June 22!
Our primaries suffer from extremely low voter turnout--Mayor de Blasio won the 2017 Democratic mayoral primary with only 14% of registered Dems showing up. CRZY!
June 22 is where your vote can make a huge impact! Your chosen fam can literally sway an election in NYC… which is powerful.
First, check to make sure your registration is all up to date: nycvotersearch.com.
If you are all set, then you can join Democracy NYC in their Voter Registration Day on Tues, May 11, to help register people to vote!
If you and your loved ones need to register (or just update your address), use nycvotes.turbovote.org, a handy voter registration system that will even send registration forms for all those without NYS issued IDs or printers. Also, 17-year-olds can register to vote too, though they’ve got to be 18 to cast that ballot. As of May 4th, all formerly incarcerated people’s voting rights have automatically been restored!
The voter registration deadline is May 28. It’s coming up quickly. This is a once-in-a-generation election for NYC. Don’t let anyone sit this out!
More below, including the City Council hearing on the FY2022 NYPD budget, Feminist Futures at the Bronx Museum of Art, and a Ranked Choice Voting trial run with the BK Library.
One more thing, we’re excited to be making our first endorsement for the June 22 primary this coming Wednesday. Stay tuned!

“Being able to not care about politics is a privilege! The ability to exempt yourself from politics indicates that you are not personally affected by politics - a privilege that many vulnerable communities do not have! Your privilege could be utilized to take action in spaces they do not have the ability to.” - @courtneyahndesign
