Excited to share the Soft Power Voter Guide for the 2022 Midterm General Election:
It’s probably easier to view the voter guide spreadsheet on a desktop computer, but we all know phone-is-life, so may the force be with you reading on your phone—heads up: it’s a lot of info! The cute, cell-phone, digi-friendly version of the guide will drop later this week :)
We’ll be printing more of the Midterm General Election One sheets (pictured above), so drop us a line if you’d like to distro some or have a location in mind where they can live!
Some hot tips:
TL;DR: VOTE YES ON ALL BALLOT MEASURES. More info about all four is in the voter guide linked above.
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates with the SPV logo are the ones who we’re jazzed (“endorse”) about and who meet our “criteria” aka, our utopian wishlist. The rest listed are simply the Democratic choices.
HIGHLIGHTED IN BLUE then we recommend VOTING FOR THE WORKING FAMILIES CANDIDATE! This helps diversify our party representation in NY state, because other parties can only show up on the ballot if they receive 2% of the votes (residual Cuomo legacy, thanks asshole). Also, these candidates are running against a Dem opponent. Let’s mix it up!!
LET’S FLIP! There are a couple of races we want to flip from R to D. So if you live in QUEENS or SOUTH BK, this one’s for you!
THANK YOU to everyone who came through to our first Soft Power Happy Hour. It was such a dope group of folks from our URL community and we loved hearing the ideas you had, the questions you had and the stories about how you discovered and used SPV. Like most great parties, not very many pics were taken—you just had to be there! Also, SPV SHIRTS ARE FOR SALE!! $25/ea and designed by NYC artists Justin Hager and Gonzalo Guerrero of Secret Riso Club.

RACES TO PAY ATTN TO
This midterm is actually SUPER IMPORTANTE! We’re voting on GOVERNORS y’all! They’re like lil presidents for the states and determine laws on health care and guns and public transportation and criminal justice, 🥵 the list goes on. Here are a couple of races happening around the country to keep an eye on, and if you have friends or family there, perhaps nudge them a lil ?! The opponents are scary.
TEXAS: Beto O’Rurke for Governor [link]
The opponent, Greg Abbott, is a scary dude who stripped abortion rights and is in bed with the NRA. He didn’t attend any of the funerals of the Uvalde children and public school teachers who died in the massacre earlier this year. Heartless man. Beto would be a HUGE STEP UP FOR THE LONE STAR STATE. Texas deserves better.
GEORGIA: Senator Reverend Warnock [link]
Incumbent! Warnock also contributed to the Build Back Better plan. He’s doing great in GA since being elected in 2021. His challenger, Herschel Walker, is a former NBA player who lies through his teeth about green energy and abortion (apparently he paid for a woman to get an abortion years ago, but is openly against it now that he’s running? SUS!!!!). Lots of drama with this dude, but ultimately he’d be super dangerous if elected and they’re literally neck-in-neck, which shows how bad the GOP wants to win because it’s REALLY DIFFICULT TO UNSEAT AN INCUMBENT.
WANNA GET INVOLVED?
If you made it this far, thanks for being here!!! We’re stoked that you wanna get involved in Soft Power Vote. The first step is helping to spread the word! Please share this post and our IG @SoftPowerVote with your friends and fam!
